June is a night blossom, cautious and sensitive, unfurling its petals in sync with the rise of the Moon. Equally chaotic, all-consuming, and concerned with creature comforts, June is here to acknowledge our past, lure us into the present, and strengthen our core for the future.
During the first week of the month, Venus floats into Taurus and exchanges with Pluto and Jupiter. Around June 5th you might feel inspired to dress to impress or undress and express ;). Venus is heating things up in the worlds of experience, tempting you to play with fabrics and touch, yummy movements, and sensual galore. There is a little bit of an instinct of gluttony, so be mindful of not going beyond your means. Touch into what it feels like to celebrate your body inside and out. To adorn it, to nourish its desires AND needs. To find ways to be tender with it, grateful for what it does for you every day, and to dually apologize whilst forgiving it for how it has grieved, been mistreated, or failed you. In your relationships, find ways to be present and honest instead of falling down the endless void of questionable scenarios and storylines in your head. If you are feeling extra needy or vulnerable, try to lean into the physical realm. If you can’t talk directly to the source of the conflict or anxiety, lean into spirituality, online communities, your studies, or little treats and outlets.
That following weekend Mercury also continues on into Cancer with several aspecting planets. This shift is pretty prominent for tapping into your communications. If there have been things that have been left unsaid, that are bubbling under the surface and waiting for a window of opportunity to bring it up, now might be a great chance. Especially with the storminess of the next week, take a moment to air out any grievances or resentments with a calm and collected approach. This is also a lovely weekend to tap into your expressions. If you’re an artist, writer, content creator, etc. consider using this little rush of energy to burrow in at a cozy coffee shop or slouch on the couch and give your creative projects some love. Perhaps you’re just experiencing an inner desire to expand and experiment. Follow your heart and have fun with it!
The week of June 9th, things can feel slightly off-kilter. On the 9th, Jupiter enters Cancer, signaling a shift towards empathy and deeper connections. You may be feeling drawn to something more meaningful or devoted. You might want to cuddle up and tend to yourself, enter a cocoon (solo or with a lover), create art, or even indulge in simple joys. Use this cosmic pocket to turn away from the complexities of life at current. On June 11th, the Full Moon in Sagittarius edges us away from our everyday routines and habitat and shakes us up like a snow globe. This could be a good opportunity to exit your cocoon for a Cinderella ball moment and get out some pent-up energy. Use this Full Moon energy to let loose, slack off a little more than usual, or entertain a tangent.
Be home by midnight, sweet socialite! The wagon is reverting to a pumpkin throughout the week of the 15th. Mars is squaring Uranus while Jupiter simultaneously squares Saturn (and Neptune!). All of the beautiful facades of late are breaking down to the harsh reality of things. This period seems painted with an underlying wash of tension. On the surface, there may be some larger developments occurring, on the personal and collective level, that rival or amplify what is happening below. You may feel like you’re inside a liminal and restless ‘toss and turn’ where you are neither awake nor asleep. You’re both acutely aware and powerless to the tumbling cycle. On the individual level, you could be fed up with work frustrations or feeling into some sharp edges in your romantic relationships. You might be faced with some limiting factors and beliefs that are separating your dreams from your reality. There is a struggle between the axis of the ideal vs. real, heard vs. invalidated, respected vs. limited, or stagnant vs. flourishing. Instead of feeding into the surface drama surrounding the contradiction/limiting belief or settling for a quick fix, devote the time necessary to plumb the depths. It’s best to avoid any compulsions that arise to react rashly, dig your heels in, or oppositely, relent or give up out of hopelessness. By directly communicating your needs for time and space, you allow yourself room for precious introspection and reflection. You will be more successful with the work you do during this time if you’re able to become closely acquainted with what the undercurrent is. What underbelly wound is triggering this momentary diversion(beyond what it appears on the surface)? On the collective level, there is some possibility for contention and turmoil. I am tempted to advise you to ‘focus on the task at hand’ whilst maintaining a level of curiosity and watchfulness.
For the entire next week, the collective continues to go through some larger-scale shifts. Mars enters Virgo amplifies an acute need for answers. Especially around the 18th, you may feel a lack of direction. Again, it is easy to rely on band-aids for your situation. But you’re better off turning to things that are tried and true safe spaces and outlets for you. It is ok to escape into your favorite TV shows or take some space and time. But try to avoid relying on external or unhealthy sources of relief.
On June 20th, the solstice marks the start of Summer and Cancer Season. You have survived the dark and sleepless night and now you are familiarly greeted by the coaxing Moon. It reminds you that at the end of every toiling day, it will rise to the sky and help you find rest. Cancer Season remembers. It holds the receipts of the universe, the good, bad, ugly, and beautiful. It holds the receipts so that you don’t have to. It gently breaks down the calluses of past wear and nourishes you back into your radical softness, a rejuvenating night spa. Cancer Season reminds us of our story, our ‘why’, and the line of ancestry that preceded us. It welcomes in a subtle fierceness, one that is like a goddess mother. Cancer Season protects and nourishes but it certainly does not condone disrespect or betrayal. Cancer can be firm and vindictive if necessary but never cruel. Cancer is elusive and yet sure of itself and its values. Honor the summer solstice by honoring Cancer. Extend overdue forgiveness, stand naked under the moon, dog-ear a page in a book that feels cathartic, or don a dewdrop ensemble. Cancer Season is for cave-dwelling. It is for lovemaking in the wee hours of the morning under the waning crescent. It is for spa days and slumberous afternoons. It calls for bringing food or money to the person who frequents your street corner. It calls for helping someone across the street or sharing a smile with someone who reminds you of your 2nd-grade teacher. Let Cancer take the night shift, peering an eerie yet watchful eye over the star-soaked landscape.
In the last week of June, we are emerging with vigor. Jupiter is cazimi on the 24th. Overnight this new emboldened sense of self is birthed. We have morphed in the womb and are now bringing fresh energy, vision, and action to our goals and our self-confidence. We have completed our ecdysis, leaving behind our old skin to decompose and become one with the earth again. On the very next day, there is a New Moon in Cancer, allowing us to use this transformation to set the tone. It is a great lunation for immersing oneself in the Cancer archetype, depending on how you connect to its spirit. If your community is your safe space, perhaps consider hosting a party or candlelit dinner. If you’re an introvert or going through a painful process, spend some time in meditation or prayer. If you’re in a period of great flux, consider hunkering down in study mode. OR if you’re feeling loved up, touch into a little self or partner love! Take this opportunity to embrace yourself, and focus on you, you, you. There is also an invitation here to visit and honor the relics, pains, and figures of the past to inform and inspire the burgeoning moment before us. For you, this could be historical, artistic, political, sexual, social, or even simply personal to you!
The month ends on Mercury entering Leo, feeling like a bright opportunity to dabble again in romance and beauty. I would not be surprised if interesting things were happening in beauty fashion or the arts around this time. Dive right in, join the conversation, and do some research! If you’ve been hoping to share your talents online or be more involved in the fashion community, this is such a remarkable time to try. Also, it could be a good time to get yourself back out there in the dating world. If you feel ready, leap and put your heart out again. Cancer rewards a heart-centered approach <3
